What is the truth?
/tro͞oTH/
noun
the quality or state of being true. (Thank you Oxford Dictionary)
Okay, what is “True”?
/tro͞o/
1. in accordance with fact or reality. – “a true story”
verifiable, literal, in accordance with reality, what actually/really happened
2. accurate or exact. – “it was a true depiction”
The truth is what you personally know as fact, have experienced, or witnessed. It can also be something you have learned or were taught and have adopted as true to you.
Little things that I held as true in my east Tennessee up bringing were not necessarily so to the rest of the world. A whampus cat was truly a mountain lion to me but people from other areas and states did not know this truth. In fact, I was looked at funny when I said whampus.
As a new Christian, your truth about Jesus is certainly true! You know that he loves you no matter what and that he will never leave you or forsake you. That is a truth that you can stand on firmly! The Bible says:
Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV – “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:8 ESV -It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Hebrews 13:5 ESV -“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Joshua 1:5 ESV – No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.
Matthew 28:20 ESV – “Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Joshua 1:9 ESV – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
1 Chronicles 28:20 ESV – Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
